I Have The List and The Map...

I have a list and a map; what could
possibly go wrong.

Indeed, unease lays the head that wears the
crown. Having headed a
commission in my department, I sure can
imagine all the pressure amidst
eyes of expectation and castigation; lips of
encouragement and backbiting,
views of admirers and critiques alike, all these
and more, not forgetting
the ever present- low budget.

Indeed, running the affairs of the
community, the state and the nation at
large, is not an easy ordeal. Even the visionary
leaders of our history
books have not been known to please the world.
No wonder some even lose
their life fighting for national reformation.
However, they did well to
leave their footprints in the sand of time.
There has been problem in various compounding
degrees across the world.
This is because no two persons have the same
ideology in the same
proportion (I stand corrected). There exist a
certain level of variance and
that, is the root of international
disagreements world over.

From land dispute in far Jordan, illegal
migration in Italy, poor wages in
Brazil, unemployment in south Africa, power
tussle in Egypt and Somalia, to
terrorism in the Middle East; giving rise to
groups like Al-shabab,
Al-Queda, ISIS and Boko haram; and at our
home front- poor educational
standard especially in the North, lack of social
amenities, unemployment,
political vendetta, poor wages, un-
industrialization, oil bunkry, sea
piracy and insurgency…all these and more all
boils down to disagreement
stemmed from unequal ideology.

Even the ideology of ONE NIGERIA still remains
in contention; with the
North, ab initio, refusing to be part of it (in
the first republic)
insisting on having 80% of everything in
NIGERIA if they are to partake in
it. One would think it was their allround wisdom that got
them at the helm of
affairs in Nigeria’s security and economic
terrain. This had been a grand plan
from time, and is still standing- that they
should have the majority of
seats in every council; even when the learned
majority constitutes a minor
ratio of the central Northern states.

The Awolowo led West maintained that Nigeria
is not a nation but a mere
geographical nomenclature. History has it that
he had the opportunity to
change that before the civil war of 1966, but
took a wrong stand and this
is the result of that decision (even though I
think his hands were tied
owing to the fact that the capital base – Lagos
was fully overwhelmed by
Northern soldiers).

The Lt Col. Ojukwu led East lost the battle for
the freedom of the Eastern region and 'they' became
“eternal” slaves/outcast of Nigeria despite
their high intellect and
craftsmanship. Thus a comic acronym of the
currency NAIRA to mean “Never
Allow Igbos Rule Again”.

The “minority” Southerners, the hub of
Nigeria’s economy, despite their
bargaining power did not have the population
to take a stand for or against
“One Nigeria”. They choicelessly had to blend
in; even though records have
it that, they sided Biafra -in part- during the civil war.
Amidst our differences in ideology, prowess,
language, culture, tradition,
values; we still chose to live together under the
same Nigerian roof. One
would in the least bit presume, think, hope
that alas, we have found a
common ground for agreement however, that
seems not to be the case.

The North has kept on pressing for absolute
power, the East dominating the
national economy in all parts of the nation,
the South now fully utilizing
their bargaining chips and the West still
blending in, save for the
privileged Lagos and Benin, which were the
ruling empires of the old western
Nigeria.

Over time, our eyes have been made open to
the wealth of Nigeria’s earth
crust. The vast spread of minerals ranging
from Tin, Bronze, Brass, Iron
Steel, Cobalt to Coal, Gold, Agriculture and top-of-
the-list; Crude oil. These
goodies have transformed Nigeria over time.
From the Ife art culture to the
Bronzes of Benin; to the era of agriculture as a
means of foreign exchange
and now the mega Crude oil. These God-given
resources have made Nigeria a
rich nation amongst the nations of the world.
At present it stands as the
fastest growing economy in Africa thus the
name Giant of Africa.

I dare say, in the outside world, Nigeria is
viewed as the richest solely
black nation in Africa but we that live therein
would have differing
opinion. That teeny-weeny bit of difference
in ideology has led to the
mismanagement of the internally generated
funds of the nation. The law
makers has left our border open to all forms of
imports that has made
Nigeria the dumping ground for foreign waste
products, throwing chairs and
exchanging blows weekly, always on furniture
allowance that equals the
salary of a professor; the political juggernauts
have embezzled our funds
to a tune much more than their entire
generation can spend; non-visionary
governors embarking on projects that are not
relevant to the immediate
needs of our citizenry and under-utilization
of the structures on ground in
the state. Always on low budget! No internally
generated fund, always
waiting for imbursement from federation
account. Legislators making laws
that suit their selfish agenda. The entire
wealth of the nation been
rotated amongst 13% of the elite few at the
detriment of the 87% that voted
them in.

We have had elections upon elections, media
chats upon media chats, confabs
upon confabs yet the nations seems to be
deteriorating down the slope.
Naira value keeps going down, educational
standard down, employment rate
down, industries shutting down, transport cost
on the rise, poverty in
general on the rise, but despite these the rich
keeps getting richer.

There is no panacea that will restore the glory
over night. The policy
makers must step down from their high horses,
shun every form of
high-handedness and join hands together to
make the nation great (again).

We have oil, we have tax payment, we have
industries, we have democracy, we
have fertile grounds, we have privatization,
great leaders, history books,
foreign treaties, technology, we have the
resources that meets the
population – we have the compass, list and the
map, how then do we keep
getting it wrong.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Turbulence world over, war among nations, vendetta amongst Geo-political states, quarell amongst family and friends....heart's peace amiss. Yet hoping upon hope, hanging on prophecies, enduring on will, telescoped on a better day- tomorrow never dies.
All men in their own little world, yet the weight of the world hangs on your shoulder.
Responsibility dealt you by the unfair hands of fate.
Attacking from a point of disadvantage; silver lining in the meal of clouds but no silver spoon to aid scoop. The potter made the clay but the fire thickens you by passing day.
Every tumble, a conquered hurdle, bringing an end to the struggle.
Despite the efforts, sometimes it seems like a circus.
Square peg never fitting into the round hole,
Battered on all sides, in a bid to be inside.

Even though strength fails, hope never fades.
Some band with the wagon, others range alone.
You need the network, and also the focus.
Whichever route you apply, you have one loci.
Some find their path, some create 'em. Some take part, some make pacts
. Whether you pedal or paddle, Pat yourself- on the back, for you are no longer at the back
. You may feel like you are alone, but you are not.
With every conquest, you illuminate the rest.
As you follow success, So also do others look to you for strength.
You look, you leap, you lean, you walk. Metamorphosing outta thy cocoon

. After the dusk, dawn.
It all comes to you now.
Alas, you can now see the light at the tunnel's end.
It all makes sense to you now.
 The determination, perseverance, endurance...
All paying off now.
You strap the strapping, gird the girdles, lock on the locks...
 Sojourn with bravery.
 Aint no stopping you now.
You've made it, you've made it big.
Now you alone can tell your story, Of Grass to Grace.
 Necessity has birthed a testimony.
Your background has not kept your back on the ground
. Hope kept alive. Dreams achieved

. Now they know.... Since you have, then we will.
We can look to you and proudly say..... Yes, we can!

WAY FORWARD.

KNOWLEDGE- The known knowns. The known unknowns. The unknown unknowns. WISDOM - The use of knowledge When you live your life yourself, you take responsibility for your actions but when you are pushed, gingered, coerced to make a move, good or bad, you tend to care less about the outcome. However, there would come a time when you gotta accept that path that life has tossed you, knowing that nothing is vain, even though some are not expedient. Full understanding is a strong motivational force in directing one's commitment towards a project. With in-depth comprehension, one can then choose amongst other choices,to key into a venture. Even convictions can be influenced, the final choice of. Keying-in must be undertaken by the key persona. There is need for a working mindset, a living school of thought, a defined vision, an upheld principle and a chosen way of life. You can think and act different from the norm but reality checks should be made on the way, to ensure a measure of actualization I for one, think and guess you might agree with me, that the way of life should incorporate the socio-physical aspect of living. Being unique- standing out of the crowd should not necessarily mean one should distant one's self from other members on one's immediate community. The social interaction would privy one to resourceful informations, trends and vogue. The constant phenomenon, would create room for flexibility in your plan; accommodating new development in all facets of life, including your belief system. Whatever school of thought one chooses, proactive ness is key. Do you have a plan, make it plain. Abstract, general, vague goals ain't truly motivating. It kinda has to be personal. Being. Specific somehow makes it personal. At least you know without doubts, that you are chasing this point or the other for now-The Power of Focus. Give time, all the time necessary, to setting nd achieving your specific goals. Bind them round your neck that you may not derail. Do NOT be deceived be uncertainties. Do not gamble except its an acceptable loss; do not even play to lose in the game of life. Yes, you can always win; if you come to every disparaging meeting with the mindset of negotiation. Negotiate to your advantage. I also think it is not every word of the Bible that should be taken as one spiritual bourgeois. Some are literally written with literal meaning and application. Their significance can be tested at face value and they will stand. Let him that think he standeth, take heed lest he falls. Check and. Double check to be sure. No one is an island of knowledge therefore in all your getting, get wisdom- proactive, practical use of knowledge; and get understanding- insight into the realities of life. It would guide your decisions and see you through in your chosen path. #Word.

OBSEQUIES

OBSEQUIES- Essence!!!

What am living for?
When all that brings you joy is gone and nowhere to be found,
When life has pushed you to the place of irrelevance,
You've lost it all....
What am I living for?

When things that are of value during your days ain't valuable anymore,
Immorality is common place.
You look back at the days when you'd have to sing, pluck flowers, hunt games...just to win a lady's heart.
But now, all it takes is a phone call and some brain washing text messages, and its all done.
You look upon the present generation with disdain.
Your time is past....
What am I living for?

You wait for your children to get married and bear you grand kids,
You pressure the male folks and only hope on the females.
When you get tired of waiting, you let go... Asking yourself.....
What am I living for?

When your children don't visit frequently to keep you company,
Your visiting grandchildren can't even tap from your wisdom and life's experience,
Cos of communication barriers and mindsets, You lose faith.....
When your age grade, folks and friends alike are all gone,
No one to hang out and gist with......
Damn; you're all alone....
what am I still living for?

When you spouse, your life companion leaves you,
You call up kids and share your plight,
You have lived the years in your life,
And there is nothing else to live for.
You let go...and they understand.

WOE be ye young, who has nothing else to live for.
Woe be ye young, who loses sight of the beauty of life.
Woe be ye young, who is cast to the place of irrelevance.
FIND your map, and your compass, sail on life's voyage.
Live your life when you are youth;
For when you grow old, you'll find no pleasure in them.
Don't be the one to look back in regrets,
Of the things you could have done- better.
Live your life to the fullest, and find your niche.
What ever you find joy and heart's peace in doing,
Give yourself wholly to it.
No Regrets.
So when you look back at life, you'd say:
I have fought the good fight of faith;
That in life, you have lived life.
Give of yourself, to the next generation, as much as you can.
For therein lies fulfilment.
Sickness weakens the body but doesn't kill us.
It is the will to live that keeps us going.
And when there is nothing else to live for,
That ends the chapter...and begins the legacy!!!

...Just listening to the radio today and wondering if the cause of ASUU is valid. Particularly is the case of obsolete curriculum which seems to b true.(Aside d salary increament) In my 300l, I studied ENG 309 w/out seeing any mechanical part; in my final year, my lecturers taught me with wit his own study note when he was in his final year, 1999....how outdated can it get! CHM101 nd PHY101, hw mwny of us knew wat we wer doing in d lab? We just make sure d whole group members write the same reading. That's why some people are saying that the probem of the youth nd industrial sector aint unemployment but unemployability. In as much as the strike affects me greatly, I have to stand by my lecturers and support their cause, for the good of our younger ones and the future of the nation at large. They have already lost 4months salary and I don't think that sacrifice wil go in vain. They wil stand and fight till the end, even if it has to last for 2years like that of Ghana(I pray it doesnt get dat bad). Let us all try and get ourselves positively engaged in something- get a casual job, enhance us skill, attend computer, vocational or catering school (lol) or even volunteer someewhere. We are prestigious FUTOites, we wer not trained to stay idle. Other schools hold us in HIGH esteem so lets show them d better way of life. This strike is just a matter of time, it too shall come to pass for good. "Of d Greatest Nigerian Student"

For ma ladies.

GIRLS NEED TO REALIZE:
We guys don't care if you talk to
other guys. We don't care if
you're friends with other guys.
But when you're sitting next to
us, and some random guy walks
into the room and you jump up
and tackle him, without even
introducing us, yeah, it pisses us
off. It doesn't help if you sit there
and talk to him for ten minutes
without even acknowledging the
fact that we're still there.
We don't care if a guy calls OR
TEXTs you, but at 2 in the
morning we do get a little
concerned. Nothing is that
important at 2 a.m. That it can't
wait till the morning.
Also, when we tell you you're
pretty/beautiful/ gorgeous/
cute/stunning, we freaking mean
it. Don't tell us we're wrong. We'll
stop trying to convince you.
The sexiest thing abouta girl is
confidence. Yeah, you can quote
me. Don't be mad when we hold
the door open. Take Advantage of
the mood I’m in. Let us pay for
you! Don’t' feel bad'we enjoy
doing it. It's expected. Smile and
say'thank you. Kiss us when no
one's watching. If you kiss us
when you know somebody's
looking, we'll be more impressed.
You don't have to get dressed up
for us. If we're going out with
you in the first place, you don't
have to feel the need to wear the
shortest skirt you have or put on
every kind of makeup you own.
We like you for who you are and
not what you are. Honestly, I
think a girl looks more beautiful
when she's just in her pj's. Or my
t-shirt and boxers, not all dolled
up. Don't take everything we say
seriously. Sarcasm is a beautiful
thing. See the beauty in it. Don't
get angry easily.
Stop using magazines/ media as
your bible. Don't talk about how
hot Chris Brown, Brad Pitt, or
Jesse McCartney is in front of us.
It's boring, and we don't care.
You have girlfriends for that.
Whatever happened to the word'
handsome' / 'beautiful' I’d be
utterly stunned by a girl who
greeted me with'Hey handsome!'
instead of'Hey baby/ stud/ cutie/
sexy'or whatever else you can
think of. On the other hand I’m
not saying I wouldn’t like it
ether ; ) Girls, I cannot stress this
enough:
if you aren't being treated right
by a guy, don’t wait for him to
change!!!!! Ditch his sorry butt,
disgrace to the male population
and find someone who will treat
you with utter respect someone
who will honor your morals.
Someone who will make you
smile when you're at your lowest.
Someone who will care for you
even when you make mistakes.
Someone who will love you, no
matter how bad you make them
feel. Someone who will stop what
they're doing just to look you in
the eyes....and say 'I love
you’...and actually mean it.
Give the nice guys a chance.
Guys repost this if you agree.
Girls repost this if you think it's
cute... Every Guy who isn't a jerk
will agree with this, so we hope
that all the girls that read this will
repost this.
Life is too short to complain
about everything that comes
your way so stop and smell the
roses in life because you might
never have another time to take
it, so take your time because they
are all different in every way, so
take chances in life, if it doesn't
work out then fine, there are
always more roses to smell.
